Background:
Since the school was built 30 years ago, the infant and junior schools have been amalgamated and numbers have greatly expanded. Each classroom is carpeted and each has its own cloakroom and toilet. There are two halls, an information centre with library and a 'success centre' dedicated to computer studies. There are also 'extensive' grounds with hard and grassed areas, a wildlife area and a fitness trail. The school has 'high academic expectations' of all its children. It also 'values its links with the community' and gained the Investor In Peopleaward in 1998. Children are made aware of the needs of others and participated in the 'kindness for Kosovo' campaign as well as a campaign to help children in Uganda. Parents are encouraged to involve themselves in school life and are kept informed of activities in a weekly bulletin. The school aims for 'the highest possible standards in teaching, in learning and in achievement'.
