Background:
New Briars Primary and Nursery School is a primary and nursery school for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is three to 11. The building was opened in 1962 as briars lane infant school and in 1985 the building was extended and amalgamated with Newton junior school to become a new briars school. It has recently developed a learning resource Centre in which its computer suite is based along with its library. The school has a large grassed playing field, which includes two football pitches and a netball court. It provides a variety of extra-curricular activities including: football, netball, basketball, art and design, computers. The school aims to provide a culture in which everyone is valued.
