Background:

Roselands is a one-form entry school founded in 1975 that has steadily grown to full capacity and, in 1999, over-subscription. The school is housed in a 'modern, well-kept', split-level building and set in a 'leafy' environment with two playgrounds, 'large secluded' field and wooded nature area. As well as curricular 'success', the school has a teaching pool and is very strong in IT teaching and resources. Extra-curricular activities include art and textiles, French, and sporting and musical groups. The cricket team have achieved success at national level and three-quarters of pupils learn a musical instrument. Community links include participation in the local parade, contact with local colleges and sporting and musical events and competitions. Pupils also raise money for national and local charities and deliver food parcels to the elderly at Christmas. The school aims to make sure that it will be known for the 'good value' it places upon the 'development of each child' and the 'fostering of good relationships throughout the school community'.
