Background:
Skyswood opened in April 1960 and consists of a large hall equipped for PE, a dining area, a resource area, a central library and eight classrooms, one of which is used as a music and TV room. Outside are two playgrounds and an 'extensive' playing field. At one corner a wild conservation area has been set up and the parent-teachers' association plans to create a Japanese garden outside the dining room. There is a small 'amphitheatre' which is used as a work and as a lunch area. Classes are organised by age and teaching is carried out on an individual, group or class basis, depending on the activities, abilities and interests of the children. Extra-curricular activities include football, netball, athletics, orchestra, cooking, art clubs, recorder and guitar.
