Background:
The Priory School was established in 1988 as a five-form-entry mixed comprehensive school and is situated a most attractive setting surrounded by extensive playing fields to the north of Hitchin Town Centre. The accommodation comprises of 23 teaching rooms, four fully equipped ICT rooms, four art rooms, six main science laboratories plus two sixth form labs, a drama studio, main hall and gym. All students are able to participate in a range of sporting activities and competitions at lunchtimes and after school, which include: rounders, football, rugby, netball, basketball, hockey, athletics and tennis. The music block provides practice rooms for individual and small group work and drama has its own studio. Students also have many opportunities to receive visiting speakers and Year 9 students have the chance to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The school aims to enable each student to feel happy, safe, valued and able to achieve their best.
