The Chauncy is a popular, growing and successful school at the heart of Ware. Teachers are dedicated to provide a stimulating, challenging, high quality curriculum. The Department for Education has issued the school with two School Achievement Awards in 2001 and 2002 and the school has earned an A* grade for student performance at age 16. As a visual arts college the school is expanding the range of arts courses taught to GCSE and A level. Its sixth form has doubled in size over recent years. The school provides a wide range of activities which include art club, dance clubs, choir, orchestra, guitar ensemble, flute ensemble, football, rugby, netball, basketball, swimming, athletics, cricket, tennis, badminton, table tennis, trampolining, skiing, gymnastics, volleyball and cross country. Students regularly represent the school in competition against other schools in many sports. The school also offers Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, trips to France and Germany, trips to national sporting events, school ski trip, charity events and other residential school trips. The school aims to be a purposeful, forward looking and determined community.
