Background:
Ashwell Primary School is a community school with attached nursery class, maintained by Hertfordshire education authority. The school was founded in 1878 and substantial extensions were opened in 1957, 1974, 1995 and 1997. The national curriculum covers the following subjects English, mathematics, science, information and communication technology, geography, history, art, music, design and technology, physical education, personal health and social education and citizenship and religious education. The school has a wide range of out of school activities including netball, football, athletics, music, craft and chess club. The central aim of the school is for each child to realise their full potential and reach the highest possible standard in all aspects of work and personal development.
