Background:

Graveley School founded in 1872. The school comprises of four classrooms, hall, library and offices that was built in 1974. It is situated near Hitchin and surrounded by glorious countryside. This small village school is always over-subscribed and more than half the children are housed in mobile classrooms. The school provides a lot of after-school activities including a science club, gardening, and choir and art clubs. It has represented the county in a cricket tournament and football training and rugby training is also offered and the school take part in a tournament. PE includes canoeing, sailing, raft building and Snorkling. French is taught from Reception to year six. The school has good links with the villagers who visit the school during celebrations and to give talks on history. The school has been inspected three times with rankings being good in 1995 and very good in 1999 and 2004. The school aims to develop lively, enquiry and imaginative minds to apply themselves to become excellent world citizens.
