Background:

Little Gaddesden Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School was founded in 1854. It is situated in an attractive village in a Chilterns conservation area adjoining the Ashridge Estate. Some 4500 acres of National Trust land is nearby, much of which is wooded. This provides a most pleasant environment for staff and children and is an invaluable educational resource. The school's main building is Victorian, although the interior was substantially modified in 1993. The school'site offers hard and grass playing areas and the school uses a nearby sports field. It offers an excellent academic education and provides a wide range of activities like French, music, sports and chess clubs. Pupils in Year 6 are encouraged to participate in the cycling proficiency test. There are good established links with the village church and community, including church services for children, parents and friends and an annual open day at the school. The school maintains broad and balanced curriculum. It offers extra-curricular activities, which includes: football, netball, rugby and cricket. The school aims to provide a happy, supportive and caring environment in which the children can learn with a sense of purpose, enjoyment and self-fulfilment.
