Background:

Little Hadham is a community primary school with a nursery and a playgroup for children aged three to 11 years. This is a small village, situated on Bishops Stortford and Puckeridge. Bishops Stortford's mainline station, with fast and frequent trains to London, is about 3 miles from the school. The school was built in 1861 as an all age Church school and has been added to over the years. With the expansion of the village population, a full time nursery was added in 1970. The school has capacity for 150 pupils, including a 26 place nursery. It has five classrooms, a large hall, a head's room and a school office. Building works were completed and there is now a new staffroom and a cloakroom/group room for KS1 children. The school is situated in a pleasant rural position with extensive views over the attractive countryside. There is a playground with outdoor equipment, an outdoor stage, a playhouse, giant draughts, giant chess and a range of playground markings to stimulate play. It has a link with a school in Uganda. All classes have CD Rom/Network computers and in addition there is a computer suite with Internet access which was partly funded by Glaxo. The school provides a variety of opportunities including: netball, football, basketball, tennis, cricket, dram, music and art to enhance the learning of pupils.
