Background:

Priors Wood Primary School was built in 1968. It is situated in a pleasing location in a quiet residential neighbourhood on the northeast side of Ware. The single-storey well maintained buildings are surrounded by extensive playing fields and grassed areas. There are two attractive wooden pergolas in the grounds and close to the school building is a wildlife pond. This is a one-form entry school. There are eight spacious classrooms, a light and airy hall, dining room, infant and junior reading libraries and a central reference library. There is also a central resources and group work area and a newly created ICT suite. The school offers a number of extra-curricular activities including recorder playing, choir, football and netball, drama, dance, French, chess and ICT. Many educational day visits are also arranged during the year. The school gained its Healthy Schools Award during 2004. The school aims to provide a welcoming, supportive and secure environment, which values the individual attributes and qualities of each child and which ensures equal opportunities for all.
