Background:

Roundwood Park is a mixed comprehensive school for students of all abilities. The school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities, which are open to all. These include drama, music, art and sports and games. The quality and variety of its extra-curricular programme has helped it to achieve 'Artsmark Gold' status, awarded by the Arts Council of Great Britain. The school has specialist suites for all major subjects, including ten laboratories, an art block, gymnasium and extensive playing fields, large music and drama suites and modern technology facilities on a pleasant site. There are also three specialist computer rooms and on-line access to information and communication technology facilities throughout the school using the whole school network. The recently enlarged modern library is a very important part of the school. Many visits and field trips, which support national curriculum studies, are arranged by departments. The Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme is also supported in school. Roundwood is a BP 'Link' school. Close ties with other industries create opportunities for works visits, special projects and gifts or loans of equipment and facilities. The school is actively involved in raising money for local and national causes. The school was successful in its bid to become a specialist college in 'Mathematics and Computing College' status last year. The school aims that every student who leaves Roundwood Park feels that he or she has been given the opportunity and support to strive for ever higher standards both academically and personally.
