Background:

The school dates back to 1871 but moved to its present site in 1938, with extensive alterations to the buildingin 1974. In 1984 the junior school amalgamated with an infant school which had been established in 1967. The building contains four single classrooms and five double classroom teaching units. There are well-stocked school libraries, resource areas, two halls and two separate dining areas. 'Excellent' playing fields and playgrounds are adjacent to the school buildings. A wide range of sports is played and there are teams for football (boys and girls) and netball. The school always enters a team for the Annual District Athletics Competition each summer. Extra-curricular activities include rounders, badminton, cricket and games club. There is also an annual residential ski trip, and short-tennis as a paid after-school activity for all ages is very popular. The PTA provided the school with a brand new computer suite in 2000. A nursery class is an integral part of the school.
