Background:

Fairlands Primary School and Nursery is a community primary school for mixed ability children between the ages of 4 to 11 years. The school aims to provide a secure, happy, stimulating environment for all children at Fairlands and to ensure that every member of the school community has the opportunity to reach their maximum potential. The children are taught the skills needed to use a variety of media. The children learn to sing, to listen to a range of music and to compose using a variety of instruments. Children are given the opportunity to develop their musical skills throughout the school. The school is well equipped with computers. Its aim to promote team spirit and co-operation through sporting activities. Basic skills and mini-games are taught during lesson times. Some after school clubs also provide sporting activities. All children are encouraged to take part in the range of extra-curricular activities that are offered. Some of the clubs and interest groups take place during the school day, other are after school.
