Background:
Opened in 1959, this is the sixth of the Cambridgeshire village colleges and part of a world-wide community schools' movement that grew from them. The smaller than average comprehensive school serves a wide rural area and receives most of its students from eight surrounding schools. The school offers 'very strong all-round provision'. Its ethos is that education should be matched to the ability and aptitude of each child, and children are 'helped to achieve their full potential. Almost every child is entered for GCSE examinations.
