Background:
The Lea Primary School was built in 1975 as a one-form entry, semi-open-plan county school. It is set on the north-western fringe of Harpenden in Hertfordshire. Outside the building are separate hard-surface playgrounds for the Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils. The main building comprises a number of class bases laid out around a central courtyard garden. It provides a library, an adjacent ICT area with 11 computers, a dining area and a bright, spacious hall with access to the school field. Curriculum information is provided by the teacher for parents each term and there is a termly formal consultation in which teachers and parents share information on pupils and agree targets for the children's progress. The school has provision for badminton, table-tennis, and lacrosse.
