Background:
Tring School was founded in 1842 by the Church of England. In 1956 it moved to its present site at the top of Mortimer Hill, to the east of the town, and in 1969 was reorganised to be an all-ability 11 to 18 co-educational school. The school'stands in 30 acres of grounds. In addition to excellent playing fields, the school has 11 science laboratories, three specialist art rooms, specialist music facilities, a very well equipped drama studio and sixth form facilities with study areas and a social area. Sports facilities include a sports hall, indoor heated swimming pool, an all-weather pitch and a gymnasium. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These include athletics, badminton, cricket, cross-country, hockey, netball, rugby, soccer, swimming, tennis and rounders. The school aims to provide an orderly, secure and pleasant environment.
