Background:
Wood End School is situated on the edge of Harpenden, surrounded by private housing and farmland. The school occupies a split site with a playground separating the junior and infant buildings; extensive grounds include an attached nursery school. Most of the pupils live locally, although some travel from surrounding villages and from Luton. The school is proud of its success in sporting events and strength in music and enjoys an 'excellent' reputation in local area and neighbouring towns and villages. The school aims to provide a happy, safe and caring environment in which children can learn and achieve their full potential whatever their ability and to develop self-worth and respect for others, encourage tolerance and appreciate diversity.
