Background:
Beaumont School is a mixed 11-18 community comprehensive school in St Albans which has recently been designated as a Specialist Language College. The many specialist areas in the school include the well-equipped science department with its seven laboratories, four of which are newly refurbished, a specialist languages block which will be extended during 2004, three computer network rooms, a careers suite, a sixth form centre and an art and design and technology centre. This latter facility provides twelve teaching areas, each fully fitted with the most upto date equipment, for the study of textiles and food technology, design graphics, business education, art and design, ceramics, wood, metal, electronics and multimedia work. The performing arts are well serviced with a purpose-built music block and facilities for drama. Provision for physical education and sport includes playing fields, an artificial cricket wicket, tennis/netball courts and gymnasium.
