Background:

Cheshunt School is a mixed comprehensive school for students aged 11 to 18 years at Cheshunt in Hertfordshire. The sixth form has a separate suite of rooms. This includes a comfortable common room and well-equipped study and computer rooms. The school, being affiliated to the Technology Colleges Trust, gives access to new ideas and methods in the teaching of mathematics, science, technology and information technology. Drama and music are popular in the school. Both subjects are offered at GCSE and A level. In addition, there are a wide range of extra-curricular activities including a number of concerts, talent shows and drama and musical productions. The school encourages participation in a wide range of sports. The school has an impressive record of success at local, national and international levels. It also has an excellent swimming pool. The quality of physical education at the school has been recognised by Sport England who awarded the prestigious Sportsmark seal of excellence for physical education. Students have the opportunity to visit places of interest. The school also offers a range of outdoor pursuits. A number of successful summer schools have been run for numeracy and literacy. Students are encouraged to take an active part in the school by becoming members of the school council and participating in schemes, such as befriending, where older students help the younger ones.
