Background:
Built in 1938 in wooden, temporary accommodation; moved to a purpose-built school on the same site in 1997; over-subscribed, with three applications per place. The school maintains close ties with the village and children take part in many local events. There are regular fund-raising activities in support of local, national and international causes, especially at Christmas and Harvest times. A part-time teacher takes classes in music and runs out-of-hours clubs, while there are regular visits from peripatetic brass and violin teachers. Sports facilities include an outdoor pool. DfES achievement award (2001). Ethos: 'Our new slogan is: "Be happy; show respect; seek success." Every child knows this and works towards achieving it'.
