Background:

Hertingfordbury Cowper Primary School is a primary school for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is four to 11.The attractive original Victorian building, which gives the school its character has been added to since the 1970's. There are five spacious classrooms the most recent of which were built in 1995. One of these classrooms and a small hall with kitchen are part of the original building. Outside there is an extensive playing field and playground with climbing equipment. In one corner of the field is a conservation area with a pond, a variety of trees. Adjacent to the conservation area is a fenced netball court for games lessons. There is a small indoor swimming pool on the site where pupils from four to seven years of age learn to swim. The full physical education curriculum taught throughout the school covers gymnastics, dance, athletics, games, swimming, outdoor pursuits and problem solving. As the children progress through the school they learn to play individual and team sports including netball, football, cricket, rounders, rugby, athletics etc.
