Background:
A school has existed on the site since 1811. Became a church school in 1876 when it occupied two sites, one for infants with a separate headteacher and the other for juniors. Both merged under one headship in 1932. Since then the school buildings have been extended twice; a hall was added in 1956 and an extra classroom in 1984. In March 1999 the non fiction library was relocated to the entrance lobby and formally opened by Kerry Pollard MP. The space created by the move was used to house eight PCs in a computer suite (all internet compatible). School lies close to the edge of a historical Roman site and is part of a heritage and conservation area. Own pond for environmental work and private paddock next to the local churchyard within the vicarage grounds. Local Verulumium Park has facilities for football, athletics and netball. Nearby Westminster Lodge Swimming Pool is also used. Extra curricular activities include a football skills club, music clubs (including a Saturday morning orchestra), French clubs. Supports local charities. Over-subscribed with two applications per place.
