Background:
Tewin Cowper Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School enjoys panoramic views of the open countryside and the Mimram Valley, local woodland, nature walks and a historic village setting. The school itself has five classrooms, technology area, computer suite, well-stocked library and a hall that is used for PE, music and the dining room. There is a large school field, which is marked out with a running track, football and rounder pitches in season. A small area is covered with wood chippings and contains outdoor play apparatus. There are two playgrounds one containing a netball court and the other a number of ground painted activities. The school has an outdoor swimming pool, which is heated for use during the second half of the summer term. The pool is made available to children and parents during the summer holidays in a family swimming club. A corner of the field has been set-aside as a wild area and the children study the plant and animal life there. There is also a school pond where the children can carry out pond dipping activities.
