Background:
The Sele School is situated just outside the town of Hertford. It is a co-educational comprehensive school for students aged 11 to 18. There are currently 452 students, including 42 in the sixth form. 53 Per cent of the students are girls. The existence in the area of two single sex schools, one of which is a language college, has an effect on the nature of the intake, which is skewed towards the middle and lower end of the ability range. In recent years the profile of the school has began to change significantly. The Library is an important part of the central core of learning at Sele. The school aims to provide a curriculum which meets the present and future needs of all students.
