Background:

Founded in 1865 by Sir Giles Puller, then Minister for Education, this is a small village school of two classes, a junior class and an infants class. It employs a nursery nurse for the under fours, a classroom assistant for literacy and numeracy support and differentiated teaching within the classroom, and a learning support assistant for special educational needs, in addition to the teaching staff. This results in a high pupil to teacher or adult ratio. The school is in very 'pleasant' surroundings, the classrooms are large for small group teaching areas, 'well equipped and resourced'. The school has its own kitchen and the old school building is now the hall and kitchens. The school is part of a four village school cluster group which combine for games on a weekly basis and for school journeys, outings and visits. The friends, community and governors are very active and supportive.
